Role Overview

Supported SVPWR’s marketing and communications efforts by enhancing brand visibility, digital presence, SEO performance, and storytelling across multiple channels. Focused on creating engaging content, optimizing digital experiences, and strengthening the organization’s impact communications.

Key Contributions:
  • Website & SEO Optimization: Designed and updated web pages using WordPress and Elementor, improving usability, search engine performance, and brand consistency.

  • Impact Report Creation: Drafted, designed, and coordinated the 2023–2024 Social Impact Report, maintaining visual and narrative consistency while highlighting SVPWR’s achievements.

  • Content Strategy & Storytelling: Produced compelling content for newsletters, blogs, and campaigns to strengthen community engagement and organizational storytelling.

  • Social Media Management: Developed and scheduled strategic content across multiple platforms, increasing engagement and audience reach.

  • Brand Consistency: Ensured all marketing materials aligned with SVPWR’s visual identity and messaging guidelines.

During my time with SVPWR, I supported multiple social events, including the Summer Social. I was responsible for designing event content such as presentations and note cards, capturing photos throughout the event, and creating visual assets to be used across SVP’s digital channels.

Redesigned Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region’s strategic plan to be more visually engaging and user-friendly, creating a polished version that was published on their website to clearly communicate their goals and initiatives.

Learnings & Takeaways :)

Throughout my time at SVP Waterloo Region, I gained hands-on experience in mission-driven marketing and learned how thoughtful communication can amplify social impact. Contributing to digital platforms, storytelling initiatives, and brand strategy strengthened both my strategic and creative skills.

1. Designing for Impact

Working on website updates and SEO improvements reinforced how digital design choices directly influence accessibility, visibility, and engagement. I learned to balance aesthetics with functionality while ensuring brand consistency across platforms.

 

2. Storytelling as Strategy

Creating the 2023–2024 Social Impact Report deepened my understanding of purposeful storytelling. Translating organizational impact into a cohesive narrative required clarity, structure, and visual alignment — showing me how design can elevate meaningful work.

 

3. Strategic Content & Engagement

Managing social media and digital content highlighted the importance of consistency, audience awareness, and data-informed decisions. I strengthened my ability to create content that not only looks engaging but supports broader communication goals.
